Natural gas vehicles and Lone Star State hospitality for ACT Expo attendees

With a number of new product announcements for Westport and Cummins Westport, and a tour of our local installation facility, this year’s Alternative Clean Transportation Expo (ACT Expo) in Dallas was a busy event for Westport.

Leading this year’s ACT Expo announcements was Ford’s unveiling of the model year 2016 Ford F-150, available with a gaseous prep package for compressed natural gas (CNG). As one of Ford’s leading Qualified Vehicle Modifiers (QVM), Westport provided a fresh-from-the-floor model for the announcement, featuring the Westport WiNG Power System, which allows the vehicle to operate in either dedicated CNG or bi-fuel options.

Partners for Good: Toys for Tots Program

This holiday season, Westport Dallas has been working with our vehicle “Stocking Program” business and community partners to fill Christmas stockings by collecting new, unwrapped toys for the Dallas Forth Worth Toys for Tots program. We’d like to extend a very big thank you to our partners, customers and anyone else who dropped off a toy – including the mystery donors!

Truckloads of Toys for Girls and Boys with DFW Toys for Tots

Westport Dallas is filling stockings for less fortunate children this holiday season by working with our vehicle “Stocking Program” business and community partners to collect new, unwrapped toys December 1st through 12th for the Dallas Forth Worth Toys for Tots program.

Westport and local Dallas partners – All Size Supply Co., Stealth Industry, General Truck Body Manufacturing Company, and Pro Staff Administrative & Light Industrial Staffing – are collecting toys for the program. We’re challenging other partners, suppliers and natural gas industry groups to make this holiday season a happier time for their communities.

Please help Toys for Tots to bring toys to less fortunate kids by holding a toy drive at your location, or by donating a new, unwrapped toy at Westport Dallas, one of our partner locations, or any Toys for Tots drop box location.

Training Day - Westport Dallas

As part of the recently-announced new Type A compressed natural gas (CNG) Collins Bus, with the Westport WiNG™ Power System, Westport Dallas staff organized a three-day training session with our partner installers from Olathe Ford during the last week of October. Olathe’s Jeff Johnson, Service Foreman, and Kevin Davis, Installer Technician, joined Westport’s Service Training Manager James Trott along with the Westport installation team on the factory floor to review several essential topics, skills and procedures.

James says the purpose of the training was twofold: an instructional course on how to build the bus and an update in service training on any new programs and diagnostic methods.

“We have a really strict protocol for quality control,” James says. “When they finish building the unit and drive it, they have to monitor the data, capture it, and send it back to us so we can verify it’s within specifications before they ship it.”
